Am I a Good Candidate for Botox?

Botox is an FDA-approved medical treatment designed to temporarily erase moderate to severe wrinkles like crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles in adults.

Does Botox Really Work?

Botox is derived from Clostridium botulinum, a powerful neurotoxin that paralyzes muscles. Botox is a specially formulated form of botulinum that uses tiny amounts of the neurotoxin to target wrinkles and a host of other conditions like migraines, eye twitching, and excessive sweating.

How Long Does It Take for Botox to Work the First Time?

After your first Botox injections, you should expect to see results in one to three days. Rarely, it may take up to five days to notice positive results.

Can You See Botox Results Immediately?

It takes at least one day and possibly up to three days before you’ll start to notice lines and wrinkles relaxing and smoothing out from the Botox injections.

 How Long Does Botox Last?

Most people will enjoy the results of their Botox injections for three months or longer. Everyone is different, so your results could be shorter or longer than average. You must return to your doctor for more Botox injections to continue to stay free of wrinkles.

What Are the Side Effects of Botox?

Getting Botox injections is an easy procedure with no downtime. Most patients tolerate the procedure well and report nothing more than feeling a pinch where the needle is inserted. However, after your injections you could notice the following side effects:

  • Mild pain or swelling at the injection site
  • Numbness
  • Headache

     Less common side effects include:

    • Weakness in muscles near the injection site
    • Drooping of the upper eyelid or eyebrow
    • Weakness in the lower eyelid
    • Trouble swallowing
    • Double vision
    • Flu-like symptoms
    • Dry mouth
    • Fatigue
    • Rash

         Can You Reverse Botox?

Once you undergo Botox injections, you will not be able to change the results. The effects of the injection will wear off after three months. There is some evidence that vigorously massaging the treatment area can help reverse the effects a little faster than normal.

Does Botox Wear Off with Exercise?

There’s absolutely no evidence showing that Botox will wear off faster if you exercise. Most people will enjoy three to four months of positive results from their Botox injections.

When Should You Start Getting Botox?

As long as you are 18 years old, you can safely use Botox. Although most patients are in the 40s or 50s when frown lines, laugh lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet are more noticeable, there’s been an increase in patients in their 30s using Botox.
